Weekly Quiz

The Winner of last weeks quiz, Will, has got the honour of picking a theme for the next quiz. He has come up with something pretty relevant to the New Year, and that is the theme of Beginnings and Firsts. So next weeks quiz is going to be based around that sort of theme. So brush up on your first knowledge with questions like "Who was the first man to swim the English Channel?". Although, I probably won't do that one as we all know it was Captain Webb.

So on with this weeks quiz, and I thought I would keep in the lyrics round, just for a little bit more for you to Google.

OK here we go with the quiz that has a West End theme.

Round 1: Muddled face
Below is a menagerie of faces, all you need to do is give me, who makes up the Head, eyes, nose, mouth and chin. The second part is Why is the chin the odd one out?

Round 2: Fuzzy Stars
On to round 2 then, simply name the stars here who have had their picture taken by a rather inexperienced photographer.

Round 3: Waxing Lyrical

Just give the name of the song and the singer/s. By the way use Word's spell checker on question 6, you may get a surprise!

1) My heart wants to beat like the birds that rise from the lake to the trees.

2) Purple French tail lights and thirty inch fins oh yeah.

3) It fills the sails of boats that are waiting, waiting to sail your worries away.

4) Come on baby why don't we paint the town.

5) She swam by me she got a cramp.

6) My father gave my nose a tweak and told me I was bad.

7) We glide far below the rolling tide, serene, through the bubbly blue and green.

8) Giuche, Giuche, ya ya dada (hey Hey Hey), Giuche, Giuche ya ya here (here).

9) Music loud and women warm. I've been kicked around since I was born.

10) So dark up above the sun's in my heart

Round 4: Quizzicles

The infamous quizzicles take on the music scene.

1) The song "I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair" is from which musical?

2) Phil Collins had a hit with Groovy Kind of Love but who sang the original?

3) Which Australian singer had hits with I remember you and Lovesick Blues?

4) Which singer was originally known as Gerry Dorsey?

5) Who saw The Whole of the Moon?

6) The song The Lambeth Walk comes from which musical?

7) In 1982 a collection of sheep noises known as The Singing Sheep got to No.42 in the UK charts, but with what song?

8) The musical Kiss Me Kate is based upon which Shakespeare play?

9) Which composer wrote Music for the Royal Fireworks?

10) The film Evita gave Madonna 2 top ten hits, what were they?

Good Luck everyone!

OK, here goes. I'm determined to beat Will this time around.

Muddled Face
Head - Julie Andrews
Eyes - John Travolta
Nose - Dick van Dyke
Mouth - Olivia Newton-John
Chin - Catherine Zeta-Jones

My only problem is the second part of the section. I have no clue why the chin is the odd man (or woman) out. Is it because Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke were in a musical together and John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John were in a musical together and poor sad Catherine has no partner. :o)

Fuzzy Stars
1) Richard Gere
2) Christopher Plummer
3) Lionel Jeffries (I'm quite proud of myself for finding this one)
4) Renee Zellweger
5) Stockard Channing
6) Catherine Zeta-Jones
7) John Travolta
8) Julie Andrews
9) Olivia Newton-John
10) Dick van Dyke

Muddled Face
Head - looks like Julie Andrews to me too
Eyes - John Travolta
Nose - Dick Van Dyke
Mouth - Olivia Newton John
Chin - Catherine Zeta-Jones

Zeta-Jones is the only one not married to an old person...oh, wait, that's not right. She is the only one not in a movie with someone else on the list. She was the only one to win an oscar for the role, no Julie Andrews won also. She was the only one in a Best Picture Winner (Chicago). She's smoking hot!, no that's not it, Newton John and Andrews were in their day too. Oh well, next section

Fuzzy Pictures
1) Richard Gere
2) Christopher Plummer
3) Lionel Jeffires (He was Grampa Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang written by Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl)
4) Renee Zellweger (From Katy, Texas about 40 miles outside Houston)
5) Stockard Channing (Man, there are a lot of people from Grease in this quiz.)
6) The aforementioned smoking hot Catherine Zeta-Jones (married to the infinitely lucky Michael Douglas)
7) Another Grease alum John Travolta ("Up your nose with a rubber hose!")
8) Julie Andrews
9) Grease is the word - Olivia Newton John
10) Dick Van Patton...no wait, Dick Van Dyke!

Waxing Lyrical
1) The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews in um...The Sound of Music
2) Greased Lightnin' - John Travolta from Grease (again with the Grease!)
3) Hushabye Mountain - Dick Van Dyke from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
4) All That Jazz - Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger
5) Summer Nights - John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in Grease
6) Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ( you know you can say it backwards which is Dociousaliexpilisticfragicalirupus, but that is going a bit to far, don't you think?) Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke
7) Beautiful Briny - Angela Lansbury and Dave Tomlinson from Bedknobs and Broomsticks
8) Lady Marmalade - Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink from Moulin Rouge
9) Stayin' Alive - The BeeGees from Saturday Night Fever

5) You
6) Me and My Girl
7) Jingle Bells - I have heard it sung by barking dogs
8) The Taming of the Shrew
9) Handel
10) Okay, you have me confused here. only one song made it to the top ten in the U.S. (Don't Cry For Me Argentina, #8) but three made into the top ten in the UK (Don't Cry For Me Argentina, #3, You Must Love Me, #10 {#18 in the U.S.} and Another Suitecase In Another Hall, #7)
